Although the original site was adequate it lacked several fundamental features, most notably a proper sematic HTML structure and various search engine friendly abilities. Additionally the Expression Engine CMS was being under utilised and some of the navigational elements lacked some potential.
The main task was to build a new set of standards compliant templates while keeping the feel of the original site intact. I updated the structure of the site so the content was more section specific than before and added various new elements to help the site owner manage the content in a more organised way, and, of course, improved the sites navigation.
The original Windrush Gear site used the free version of Cubecart shopping cart with a very generic template. The cart was upgraded to the commercial version so as to benefit from the additional cart features, mainly better SEO and faster checkout, and a new set of templates created to match the rest of the site.
