Stepping Stones Greenwich
ExpressionEngine - HTML/CSS - Design - Consultation - HTML5
The old SSG site was in need of a total revamp and the client had no means of editing content, so I set to work building their new site using ExpressionEngine.
Amongst the new features are a categorisable database of services and profiles for their readers and therapists, a basic online shop and the ability to add news items.
A future expansion will be to allow online bookings for their various services. Online bookings now implemented.

Queen’s Foundation
ExpressionEngine - HTML/CSS - Consultation
According to their history The Queen’s College dates back to 1828 and became Britain’s first ecumenical theological college in 1970.
This was another ExpressionEngine build for Deckchair. The new site required some fairly complex features, such as optional image slideshows, related page links and multiple PDF file downloads per page, but that’s the sort of thing that ExpressionEngine excels at doing.

Spidex Software
ExpressionEngine - HTML/CSS - Consultation
Spidex Software Limited is the sole UK and Ireland reseller for the “Mainsaver” CMMS (that’s Computerised Maintenance Management Systems).
This was a straightforward ExpressionEngine implementation for my friends at Deckchair down in Bristol. Deckchair provided the design and specifications and handed over the site build to me. We delivered the project on time to a happy customer.

Tokyo Blade
ExpressionEngine - Jshop - HTML/CSS - Design - Consultation
If you’re old enough to remember the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) that sprang up in the early 1980’s you may remember these guys. Well, they’re back with a brand new album called “Thousand Men Strong”!
They already had a web site but being based on the Joomla CMS it wasn’t very pretty, taking an age to load up, and code any self respecting web designer would shudder at, such is Joomla! Hence I got a call from my good friend Oliver at http://www.wilsondigital.co.uk/ asking if I could lend a hand with building a new site, but with the catch that the site had to be live in a weeks time to co-incide with the album release! Ever one to take on a challenge I accepted.
ExpressionEngine was the obvious choice for a band site as it needed to manage several types of content, eg news, merchandise sales, gig dates, and various media items such as audio, video and photos.
Luckily we had the new album artwork, created by Andrew Batchelor, that we used as a backdrop. Over a week we put it all together, mainly after normal working hours and with lots of late nights! As we had a free reign with the overall design and presentation this gave me an ideal opportunity to sneak in some odd CSS3 effects such as image transitions which can be seen if you use an up to date web browser (eg not IE8 or older!).
Happily we managed to launch the site the day before the album release, and on the first day the site notched up a healthy amount of new album sales.
We’ll probably still be tweaking a few things in the next few weeks, but we made the deadline, and band spokesman Andy Boulton was dead pleased with it - a happy customer!

Rosa Derriviere
ExpressionEngine - HTML/CSS - Design - Consultation
When you’re asked to build a new web site by a real psychic/clairvoyent you know you must be doing something right, after all they can see the outcome… can’t they?
Rosa’s original site had served her well but was getting a little outdated (using 20th century style HTML frames) and needed a total revamp to introduce new types of content. Additionally Rosa wanted to be able to control the content so the ever reliable ExpressionEngine was used to build the site on.
Apart from adding the ability for Rosa to post news, photos, videos and, of course, her monthly horoscopes, one nice feature is the online Tarot Card Readings where visitors can choose from a “3 card” or “Celtic Cross” style reading.
The ability to sell various related products and take payments for bookings round using a straightforward Paypal integration round this site off nicely.

Stick it to MS

In 2009 Rick Prince organised the first Stick it to MS event which achieved a world record for the number of drummers drumming simultaneously. Now, in 2011, they are trying to break the record yet again with all proceed going to the MS Society.
Rick needed a improved web site that allowed for better communication for event participants, and ExpressionEngine was the obvious choice.
The new site features everything such an event needs, including member registration, forums, merchandise sales and a comprehensive back-end system for managing event related data generated from the web site.

Piccadilly AV
ExpressionEngine - HTML/CSS - Design - Consultation
Piccadilly’s boss, Mike Newton, was the first to admit that their old site needed a complete overhaul to bring it up to date. I had to agree!
Piccadilly AV supply audio visual equipment for corporate and international clients including Silverstone Grand Prix, Crufts Dog Show and Six Nations Rugby. If you’ve been to any major event like these and watched the action on a large LED Screen it’s probably them that supplied it.
ExpressionEngine was used as a base for the site and made handling their content a breeze, plus it will be easy to add new features in the future. For the design and presentation I hit the spot with my first draft - not bad going., even if i say so myself!

Online Gun Shop
Jshop - HTML/CSS - Consultation
Churchills had some big problems with their old shopping site - it didn’t work, and was based on the antiquated OSCommerce shopping cart. As a result no-one could place an order, and for an online business it doesn’t get any worse.
Fortunately Jshop was a more than adequate solution for them and the outcome is a new site with a simple but effective design. It wasn’t long before they received their first online order!
