The benefit of good quality product images
So you’re surfing a few online shops looking for a new briefcase. You find what you want at two sites, both products are identical, the same price and they can both deliver it next day. Your dilemma is which shop do your buy from.
It’s all in the presentation
Let’s look at the images each shop uses on their site for the briefcase…
As you can see, one image is quite poor in quality, but the other is crisp and clear. Which site would you buy from based on how well you can see what the product looks like?
Getting closer up
Many product types benefit from having close up images to show detail, or images taken from perspectives. Let’s look at the briefcase again but this time using a closeup to show some detail.
See how the poor quality image is wishy washy and blocky? This is caused by over optimisation, or if the image has been incorrectly resized at some point. Obiously the better image will impress you more, and probably make your decision from where to buy a little easier.
Getting summed up!
Using good quality images on your site is key to good presentation and customer perception. Always check how images look on your site and put yourself in your customers shoes and ask “would I buy from this site?” If you need to, take some new product photos with your digital camera and start anew with fresh sharp images - it will make the world of difference!
