Expression Engine 2 delayed

Expression Engine version 2.0 should have been available in late Summer 2008, but as we’re now officially in Autumn the deadline has passed. According to the brief progress update it would appear it’s not a million miles away but I’m not holding my breath for the first release!
Although many EE developers have been anxiously awaiting the new version the delay isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The current 1.6.x version works perfectly well so there isn’t really a need to upgrade anyway - but yes it would be nice to start playing with all the new features.
I like EllisLabs approach with this new version. Rather than release EE2.0 in a half finished state they’re aiming to get everything right first time, and certainly for a mission critical site you don’t want things going pear shaped when you upgrade.
Considering that EE2.0 will be a major step forward for Content Management Systems waiting a short while longer is not a problem.
