Bluehorses

"Diamond White" Lizzie
Ever since I first picked up a guitar at 14 I'm always loved playing music and being around musicians - quite why I don't know but sometimes you don't need to ask! I've been in a few bands over the years but nothing that ever got going enough to do regular gigs.
Moving forward in time about 10 years ago I met the Bluehorses at a gig in Banbury, and we've been friends ever since. Now I travel to every gig up and down the country, helping out and being there during the good times and the bad (if you've ever been in a band you'll know what I mean!), but most of all having a darned good time with some really nice people.
Their music has been described as "...probably the only Celtic-rock-folk-heavy-metal-goth band around" by someone at the BBC but unfortunately there's no mention of it on the BBC web site so you'll have to take my word for it! They've also has two 'official' endorsements, MOJO Album of the Month (for "Dragons Milk and Coal") and the Classic Rock Society 'Best of 2004' Award. The Bluehorses sound is quite diverse, everything from classical/traditional influences, to foot stomping jigs, to full on hard rock/metal songs, and featuring the mesmorising electric fiddle/violin crafted by frontperson Lizzy.

For my part I help with setting up and packing away the gear, but my main job is to look after the merchandise which eager fans love to snap up. More often than not there's a mad rush at the end of the gig to buy CD's, DVD's and T-shirts, and of course it's always great to have people come up to me and say how much they enjoyed it. Naturally some folks are keen to get autographs and the band always come out to meet everyone, sign CD covers and have a darned good chinwag accompanied by a suitable refreshment.
With several albums, EP's, live videos and a live DVD under their belt, a new studio album is being crafted as I write. From what I've heard of the samples and demos, this album is set to be a corker and firmly moving Bluehorses from a folkrock orientated band to the full on rock outfit that has been evolving over the past few years.
The current line up...
- Lizzy Prendegast - electric violin,. pink electric mandolin, keyboards, electric harp, vocals and Diamond White
- Nic Walkyer - drums
- Jay MacDonald - electric guitars, keyboards

And naturally there's a whole team of people who help out including...

- Hev 'n' Gary (Hev - merchandise, Gary - everything!)
- Andy (photography and his sense of humour)
