When to redesign your website
The pace of change on the internet is phenomenal - technology changes, methods change, businesses change and, most importantly, customers expectations change. Your web site is no exception - if you don’t keep up to date it’s performance and popularity may rapidly decline.
But exactly when should you update?
My site is looking a little outdated
Still stuck with a 1990’s look? Too much Times New Roman text? It doesn’t display correctly in modern web browsers? These are very good reasons to redesign/rebuild!
It needs designing professionally
Learning all those HTML tags, attributes and CSS selectors can be brain ache for many people, or you just can’t the look you’re after. I always admire people that have a go though! In the end if it’s not for you then you need professional help to build a usable and accessible web presence.
A professional designed site will be a good reflection on your business/organisation.
It’s grown unwieldy and difficult to navigate
Over time sites can quickly grow to hundreds or thousands of pages and your old design just doesn’t work any more - perhaps the content has got very disorganised, or it’s a nightmare to find your way around. A professional redesign will solve problems like these.
If your own site confuses you what will it do to your customers?
My business has changed
Just about every business will evolve over time and your web site should reflect that. You may have new products to show, need to keep the information up to date or maybe your corporate branding/colours have changed.
If your customers see out of date content how will they perceive you?
My audience’s needs are different
Just as businesses change, customers do too! Internet users are getting more and more demanding, if your site doesn’t cater for their needs they have plenty of choice to go elsewhere and you lose.
If there is only one reason to redesign it’s for your customers!
