It’s that Yule time again!

“When I were a lad” it seemed that we nearly always had snow at this time of year. I remember greeting it with great joy, mainly because I wouldn’t have to go to school, but also the chance to build a snowman and have snowball fights. Of course all those presents were most welcome as well!

Times changed and as I grew older Yule took on a new meaning, the snow has all but gone and the number of gifts dwindled to coming from those closest to me.

The big consumer fest is sad…

I find this apsect of Yule quite depressing. There’s nothing wrong with buying gifts at all (it’s traditional!), but the way the men from the media target children with overpriced goods is sad, especially because it puts extra pressure on families who can hardly afford them.

But the food is fab!

Midwinter feasting is something I always looks forward to, well you have to follow tradition, lots of things I like - plenty of stuffing and gravy, I’ll pass on the brussels sprouts!

Doing it your way

However you celebrate I wish you all a peaceful and prosperous time.
